More or Less?
Anybody else at the point where you're trying to decide if you cut or keep sections that you're not finished with? Do I submit a shorter piece that I'm happy with or a longer piece that still needs work, but has potential? I feel like at this point I need to be just editing the parts I like and forget about some others or I may end up with the whole piece as a really rough draft. Three days to go!
Last Minute Muse
My muse showed up late. Again. At least it's consistent.
So I couldn't come up with a story that fit the prompt. I had various ideas, but everything I tried to write on topic came out forced. I had almost written off this contest, but tonight I had a brainstorm. Just hope I can get it written by Tuesday evening! Won't have time during work to write on Wednesday.
If it's too unedited (I.E., crappy) I may not submit it, but I'm just ecstatic that I finally had a story idea that I feel passionate about that is also on topic. :)

you say "lowering expectations", I say "revising goals"!
I've decided to be excited about just finishing a first draft of something with a beginning, middle, and end by the end of the month. Maybe even just a beginning and a middle...and an outline of the end. Whatever the results after April, this has definitely given me the kick in the pants I needed to get refocused on writing regularly. Thanks, TSKW.

Wonderings...
What time is our check in meeting on Friday? -- It's 5-7 at the Studios Armory
How do we share work on Friday without losing anonymity? (does it matter?) -- That could be a little tricky. You can certainly share with colleagues, but if you publicly share identifiable details of your work, the judges will be aware. It doesn't matter in any cosmic sense. Que sera, sera.
Will non "winning" works get feedback? Good question. The judging committee will look into that.
Will works that are unfinished by the final deadline still get feedback? Ditto, last answer.

hi................
the text in microsoft word keeps shrinking to the size of a postage stamp. Yes, the whole page. I am spending too much time googling, youtubing, and troubleshooting for dummies. Now, I have to actually clean up (shower, clothing, etc.) and go down to office depot to talk to the geek squad. As I was just typing, these words shrunk a size. Something with my left palm.

I'm having...
...some difficulty freeing my mind. I keep rejecting ideas, because even though I know I should write what I find interesting, I can't help but keep thinking about the perceived tastes of the audience and filtering ideas accordingly.
Sigh. :)
Sigh. :)
About last night...
Just as an FYI, there already is a book about "children murdering birds": It's called Wringer by Jerry Spinelli. It's a highly acclaimed, and very entertaining, distopian Young Adult novel. Funny that this topic was brought up as the preposterous hybrid subject for a story that would appeal to the range of the various judges' areas of interest...and it's already been done. Guess it's just further proof that there are no "new" ideas and only, what, 7 plots? Happy writing, All!
