...some difficulty freeing my mind. I keep rejecting ideas, because even though I know I should write what I find interesting, I can't help but keep thinking about the perceived tastes of the audience and filtering ideas accordingly.
I can sort of relate, though my second-guessing came from the Prompt. I started working on a non-fiction piece that's been burning in my mind and then decided to abandon it for now because it seemed like a stretch to fit the task. I figure whatever we choose to work on for this can be reworked for something else later, no matter how it's received here, and so can whatever we don't choose so there's really no "wrong" choice.
Hi Roy -- nothing worse than pre-emptive self-editing, is there? One technique that has often worked for me when I feel stuck is to just leave the desk/computer screen and let my mind wander a little. Driving used to be great thinking time when I did more of that; these days it's walking my dog. This is not exactly an original idea but it's good to remember when you're spinning your wheels. And Vippy is correct; there is no wrong choice.
I have never blogged before.....so now besides trying to fix the text size in word, I am trying to find send buttons and compose buttons...here in blogger. I just pulled up and read my own blog, and it says that the time I launched it was around 6 a.m. That is so not true, it's 10 o'clock in the morning. HELP.
